Meeting Will Todd

Members of Richmondshire Choral Society got to meet with Will Todd and get a group photo on 4 June at the Swaledale Festival Big Sing Day.

About 150 singers from all over the north took part in the Big Sing Day working through Will's Mass in Blue with David Murray as accompanist and soprano Elizabeth Woods. Malcolm Creese joined us for a final 'performance' towards the end of the day.  Mass in Blue is not an easy sing but we weren't working towards a perfect performance and it was a refreshing change to sing in an idiom that was somewhat different from our usual repertoire. We came away having really enjoyed it.

We have previously sung two of Will's short pieces, Stay with me Lord, and My Lord has come in Christmas concerts for 2013 and 2015 respectively and we found both pieces very beautiful.

Richmondshire Choral Society was the 'Angel' - official financial supporter - for the Big Sing Day having made a small contribution to the costs of staging it, something we had also done last year for Bob Chilcott's Big Sing Day.
